Living Stone continues to grow: Kristel Gils takes over as Managing Director

Some stories are built brick by brick. It is with pride and gratitude that we announce a significant change at Living Stone. After years of dedication, CEO Thomas Valkeniers will be passing the torch to current COO Kristel Gils. This step does not mark the end of an era, but the beginning of a new chapter in the wonderful Living Stone story.

Looking Back: Thomas's Story

Thomas on his years at Living Stone: “In 1997, I left the Brussels Bar Association and took over what was then the real estate firm Pajota. Together with my wife, Laurence, and a fantastic team, we were able to further expand the firm and successfully merge with Living Stone in 2021. We were named ‘Real Estate Entrepreneur of the Year’ twice. That would never have been possible without the dedication of our entire team. It has been an incredible journey. With passion, commitment, and a human touch, we have built something I am incredibly proud of. Working with our team and serving our clients has always given me a lot of energy. Now it’s time for new challenges, but Living Stone will always be a part of me.”

Thomas is leaving Living Stone in capable hands and looks to the future with confidence: “Kristel is perfectly positioned to continue writing this story. We wish her and the team every success.”

It is clear that Thomas’ legacy is deeply rooted in Living Stone’s culture, values, and formula for success. His vision, dedication, and people-oriented approach have shaped the company into what it is today.

Looking Ahead: Kristel's Vision as Managing Director

Kristel Gils brings a fresh perspective and years of experience to the table. Kristel has served as COO in recent years and knows Living Stone inside and out. Her leadership will inspire Living Stone to continue growing, innovating, and realizing our ambitions. 

Kristel on her new role: “It feels special to take on this role,” says Kristel. “Living Stone is a real estate firm. We are a reliable and knowledgeable guide for anyone seeking assistance with housing or real estate. Together with the team, I want to continue providing advice and smart solutions so that we can support our clients at every stage of their lives, both today and in the future.”

Kristel emphasizes that Living Stone’s core values will remain intact as the company adapts to the changing market and develops new ambitions: “The real estate sector is constantly evolving, but our vision remains clear: connecting people in sustainable neighborhoods and inspiring work environments. We want to ensure that everyone’s living environment becomes a better place to be. That is what we strive to build every single day.”

With Kristel at the helm, Living Stone is embarking on a new chapter. Thomas’s solid foundation, combined with Kristel’s vision and leadership, promises a bright future.

“Together, we’re continuing to build Living Stone 3.0, with respect for the past and an open mind toward the possibilities of tomorrow,” says Kristel. 

This transition is not only a change in managing director, but also an opportunity to reflect on what we have achieved together.
